Research on Spatial Patterns and Mechanisms of Live Streaming Commerce in China Based on Geolocation Data

Live streaming commerce (LSC) effectively combines the traditional real economy and e-commerce. Based on more than half a million unique GIS data values LSC activities sourced via Taobao (Alibaba), we traced spatial distribution of different players along supply chain further highlighted intermediary role streamers in developing inter-regional industry. This study guides industrial planning diversified regional context, especially economically peripheral regions. Our results show following outcomes: (1) contrast to dispersed suppliers, consumers are highly clustered. trend proves that rooted specific urban context while playing an chains, extending geographic interactivity between suppliers (potential) customers. (2) primarily promotes light industry, rural areas, provides opportunities for rapid development cities with skilled handicraft providers. (3) China’s streams have pyramid structure, top group is clustered metropolitan regions, such as Yangtze River Delta (YRD) Pearl (PRD). clustering makes it easier work large, well-known brands.
